ok I was in a hand about 10 minutes ago. NL 5 and 10 cents . I was CO everyone before me had folded I looked at pocket Queens so I
raised to 0.40 , big blind raised me to 0.60 I took that as weak and raised it up to 1.80$ he doubled it to 3.60$, I decided to just call and take a look at the flop an ace popped up He checked, I checked he shoved on me and I decided to fold. I think he was holding
either AQ, AK s or even AA . I know the rule is to get it all in preflop but do you think It was a good laydown?

| Your right in that you should have gotten your money in pre-flop.
I'm not sure whether or not I would have folded unless I knew your stack sizes, what the turn card and the rest of the board was, any info. on the players tendencies, etc... It seems like you may have been pot commited with $3.60 in the pot at a 5/10 cent game though.
It seems like he probably just sensed weakness in your post flop check so he shoved the turn. I probably would have shoved post flop but since you didn't and put him on a strong Ace, I guess it was an ok fold at that point but I still think you should have shoved after the flop. | |

| God only knows how many millions of times I have had pocket Q's in both cash games and tournaments.
A lot of people are too eager to shove it all in from early position with QQ, you have to watch what is behind. The last weekend I played in the stampede Classic 1100.00 buy in. I was dealt QQ in the cut off, blinds were 1-2 k with 100 ante, so there is 3.9 in the pot before anyone even farts.
I had about 45k in chips.
Some fat turd in mid position raises to 4.5k, I knew he liked playing a KJ KQ K10 hand, I raised to 10k. I felt i was happy to see a flop and not risk more than 30% of my stack against a lucky fat donkey. I was in the cutoff.
Well the poker gods had no mercy the SB shoves 38k, the fat turd calls his all in. QQ I insta folded, why? I had enought o rebuild and pick my position again, maybe the fat prick did have KK? But the small blind shove, first time he pushed in 5 hours of play, I knew he had AA KK.
SB did infact have KK, fat turd did have KJ, obviously fat turdboy went home early.
I guess the moral of the story is when I play in a hand with QQ facing an early/mid raise I like to feel them out like you did. They come over the top you have to go back to that players ranges and frequencies. use your player knowledge, your position, dont get emotional or too attached to QQ, dont over committ preflop if you are suspicious about the players hand.

| Great advise twinkyninja!!. Although I haven't played in many BIG tournys, I do play a fair bit and have learned It's never wise to push preflop with ANY 2 cards early to 3/4 of the way through a tournament, Unless your stack is huge compared to your opponents. A can't tell you how many times I have been in and seen hands that push all in on crap as a bluff... your holding AA... decide to call... and the idots 10-J hits for a striaght or 2 pair... SICK!! really sick. I've learned to toss big pocket pairs preflop... even AA... on a donks chances of hurting my stack. when the pot size, pre push, is small compaired to your stack. | |

| Crikey Bro, dont know about laying down AA lmao!, I can appreciate your stack size comment and the donk shove into you, but AA??? Get it all in with the best preflop which AA definately is, we all know even if they have a high range pocket and have a 2 outer they still have to hit! Sure a race can be scarey when you are deep, but we all must win several races to win any tourney.
I have laid down some monster made hands, AA wont lay that down preflop lol, after the flop or turn I have laid it down many times.
