| Just for the record, I ended up playing with my second ticket and bubbled with set over set.
UTG I make it just under 3x, he flat calls from mid position
i had 88,
flop is 8 2 10, rainbow.
I checked UTG, he bets about 40% of the pot. I immediately thought this guy had ducks. or a big over pair. He had a very tight conservative presence.
turn is a J....8 2 10 J was definately not threatening to me, thoughts he could he holding AQ, AK hearts crossed my mind as I am now look at 10 J hearts on the board, or maybe jacks.
I bet 65% of the pot to see if he had a draw, still not worried. He game straight back at me with min raise. Obviously I knew I was in a lot of trouble at this point, the move was text book huge hand, comittment your oppenent to the pot.
I could of and should of folded my set in this instance (against this player only), but my commitment level, the cards I chose to push at this point.
No way in hell does he have a straight 79 or 9Q. Over pairs dont worry me, high suited contectors, he is still drawing. Odds tell me I am still ahead by a long way and can win.
river is an Ace.
He had 1010 in the hole. I dont regret the hand, or anyones play. His preflop play was what beat me.
oh well. next year!
Steve
River comes an Ace spades. | |

| Set over set situations only come along once in awhile. You can't blame yourself for anything in this hand, you made the right play. You'll definitelly get him next time. | |

| I guess 5 years ago a lot of pre flop play was different, he would of raised.
Now days you get people playing all ins, rasing from UTG like a new button position, many people seeing flops with AA-1010 as cheap as posible and trying to build pot on turns.
You are right, play the hand 100 times and I wouldnt change a thing, replay the hand 100 times under the same betting strategies, and I would of had the premium hand 99 times out of 100.
Strange part about this guy is we were playing some 2/4 cash later that night, i got my 250 buy in up too 800.00 and left the table for some dinner.
when I am came back from dinner, i rebought for 250.00, very first hand he pushed his stack of about 1400.00 i shoved with my AA. He had 1010 AGAIN and hit the flop again lol.
knew it wasnt my day and went to bed lol!
